Live typeface
Jiříček, Milan ; Špiřík, Jan (referee) ; Rajmic, Pavel (advisor)
The work describes the theoretical foundations of modern methods of creating new fonts, that is, using information technology, specifically vector programs. It also marginally shows the history of the font, Roman writing, the basic division of its compositions and describes its individual elements. The next part of the project focuses on creating digital fonts and continues with bringing it to live using algorithms and methods that can easily be processed in Matlab programming language. The method of implementation of the bringing the typeface to live is described and presentation of the generated results are then shown in few examples. Attention is also paid to the coordinates system, which is very important to solve geometric transformations, and two-dimensional vector graphics, which are widely used in the design and to render the fonts. Bézier curves and cubic Bézier curves are described in further detail along with vector graphics rasterization. One part of this text describes very important de Casteljau algorithm. The last chapter focuses on implementation in Matlab programming language, the creation of curves, that means single font characters, and the ways of how the algorithm works with transformations. Some sample images showing transformations using different input arguments are displayed in this section as well. There is evaluation of the contribution of this application and the possibilities of further expansion at the end.

I have been fascinated by paper since my early childhood. It was a very important part of my life, it affected shaping my personality and a way of spending time. I wrote on paper, I drew on paper, I read about fictional worlds or important information on pieces of paper. Everything transformed into different waves, influences, insights, flowing into the windows of my soul, gradually influencing and filling it. Some of them stayed, some of them have faded, and others converted into new thoughts and ideas. These I most often put into words. And so, gradually, texts, stories and poems came into being, and they flowed through the huge amount of chaos like streaks of text. This installation is a visual representation of this situation.
Differential analysis of online handwriting versus pen and paper handwriting.
Plaček, Ivo ; Mekyska, Jiří (referee) ; Mucha, Ján (advisor)
The presented diploma thesis presents a basic introduction with the writing and its development, writing disordes, used devices for online writing and their software. It also contains the collected data, which is then analyzed to determine the difference between the tested devices. The main part of the work is devoted to the evaluation of the differences between writing on paper and digitizing tablets, both from the point of view of the differences in individual parameters, and also from the point of view of the influence of the differences in these parameters by the age groups of the respondents and their gender. In the course of the work, a comparison of individual parameters was performed, a T-test was performed between parameters in individual groups created according to the age of the respondents, but also between their genders. Subsequently, a correlation analysis was carried out and, at the end of the work, an evaluation of the results, when differences were found in the speed of writing, its width and the pressure on the pen when writing on individual devices..

Kovářová, Jana ; Hájková, Eva (advisor) ; Höflerová, Eva (referee) ; Šindelářová, Jaromíra (referee)
The dissertation focuses on teaching of so called advanced writing (in Czech) to secondary- school pupils who are native Russian speakers. We investigate the topic in the framework of a specific curriculum topic, i.e. administrative style genres. The aim of the dissertation is a) to identify the approach of teachers and that of Russian-speaking pupils towards this particular part of the curriculum, b) to assess the differences between texts of the chosen genres written by Czech pupils and pupils with Russian mother tongue, and, finally, c) to propose didactic solution for teaching the given administrative style genres to Russian-speaking pupils. We approach the topic with qualitative research methods. The practical part of the thesis consists of four parts. In the first one, on the basis of interviews, we analyse the teachers' approach, collect the evidence of critical places as well as examples of good practice. The second part looks closely at the Russian-speaking pupils' view. It has been discovered the pupils often cannot evaluate their language competences objectively, and generally, they lack metacognitive skills. The third part of the thesis compares - from the point of view of functional stylistics - 180 texts by Czech and native Russian pupils. The comparison shows the native Russian...

Handwriting and problems at third grade
Kubín, Daniel ; Kucharská, Anna (advisor) ; Sotáková, Hana (referee)
Handwriting is an integral part of our culture and civilization. It is an important and indispensable skill that makes us a full-fledged member of society. When acquiring this skill particular problems can develop which need to be captured as soon as possible in order to ensure the fastest and most effective remedy. The presented work deals with a profound description of written expression in the third grade of primary school. It is based on the revised rating scale which was derived from the original scale created by A. Kucharská, and J. Veverková in 2011. Using this revised scale the degree of attachment and coping skills in writing for third grade students was captured and described. It was also investigated the area of reflection of the errors and the ways students dealt with them. Finally, based on last scale area the rate of fixing grammar and typing skills was observed. The analysis scrutinized dictations of 90 students from Prague, central and east region who was taught by the genetics and analyst-synthetic metod. In order to process the data the quantiative methods and multidimensional methods were used. The qualitative analysis was used as well with the purpose of supporting the particular issues. The data allowed us to determine the extent of the handwriting fixation, provided us with...
